ThIS report recol11mends that CIty CouncIl ll':struct staff to
amend the scope of the 1984-85 CapItal Improvemept Project WhiCh
calls for extepsIve rerovatlors of two parklng structures lr the
Certral Buslr:ess District.

During the past several years staff has made a number of
Improvemer:ts to several of the SlX parkIng structures ServlPg the
Certral BUSlress District. These lr.cluded removlrg the facades to
provlde a more oper feellr:gj maklrg oper.lngs In the staIrwells;
generally upgraded maIntenance ard other lmprovemerts to three of
the structures as well as a much More exter.Slve remodelir.g of
structure 2.
The current Capl tal Improvemer.ts budget u:cludes $623 J 700 to
upgrade two of the parking structures. In aralyzlrg alterr,atlves
for the best use of these furds It has become apparent to staff
that a modIfIcatIon to the project should be made for these
reasor.s: 1) the improvemerts which have been made to structure 2
(especially the Improved llghtlrg ard paIrtlrg) have beer well
receIved and since they are relatively InexpenSIve, should be
