SUBJECT: Approval of Resolution
Introduction
ThlS Resolution establishes new monthly and hourly parking rates on Parking
Authority Lots 3 and 4 located north of Wilshire Blvd. between 3rd and 4th St.
Background
The Parking Authority, at its Special Meeting of July 25, 1978, approved
staff1s recommendation to increase the hourly parking meter rates from 5C to
20~ per hour and the monthly permlt parking rate from $12 to $20 per space
per month on Parking Authority Lots 3 and 4. They also appropriated $10,000
from unencumbered Parking Authorlty funds to effect the necessary meter rate
changes. Before any action can be taken, the attached Resolution must be
approved.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Parklng Authority adopt the attached Resolution
authorlzing the Executive Secretary of the Parking Authority to place into
effect the new schedule of rates from and after September 1, 1978.

WHEREAS, the Parking Authority has conducted and considered
an off-street parking rate comparison study between Parking Authority
Lots 3 and 4 and privately owned parklng lots; and,
WHEREAS, by motion adopted at lts meeting of July 25, 1978,
the Parking Authority approved an increase in the monthly parking permit
and parklng meter rates for Parking Authority Lots 3 and 4; and,
WHEREAS, the Parking Authority, by motion adopted at said
meeting, instructed the City Attorney to prepare the necessary resolutlon
for presentation to the Parking Authority to increase said rates.
NOH, THEREFORE, THE PARKING A.UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Parking Authorlty flnds that an increase in
the monthly par~ing permit and parking meter rates for Parking Authority
Lots 3 and 4 is su~ported by, inter all~, the aforementloned comparlson
study.
SECTION 2, The new sc~edule of said rates is to be as follows:

SECTION 3. The Executive Secretary of the Parking Authority
is authorized to place lnto effect tne above-referenced new schedule of
rates from and after September 1, 1978.

Reso1ution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.
