Installation of Two-Hour Parking Meters on the West Side
of the 1800 Block of L1ncoln Blvd.
Introduct1on
This report concerns the request by a retail business person to improve
customer on-street parking on the west slde of the 1800 block of Lincoln Blvd.
Background
It is City staff's op1nion that there is a parking problem at this locat1on.
Currently there is restricted parking 10 the area, posted IINo Parking 3 a.m.
to 5 a.m. U (for street sweeping), and lITwo Hour Parking from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. II
Because of the citizen complaints received by the City, it is believed that
the present restrictions are inadequate. The installation of two-hour
parking meters would encourage turnover, make enforcement much easier, and
prevent the abuse of on-street parking restrictions.
Recommendation
City staff recommends that the City Council approve the placement of two-hour
parking meters on the west side of Lincoln Blvd. in the 1800 block at an
hourly rate of 25~ per hour, and instruct staff to draft an ordinance
authorizing the new rate.
