SR-417-005 (18) ,I' e tj/ r ---OO~ e b /... ~- -' v MAY 2 7 m80 May 19, 1980 0~" "C ( Santa Monica, California, TO: Mayor and C1ty Council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: INSTALLATION OF PARKING METERS ON 28th AND 31st STREETS Introduction This report recommends a proposed ordinance to include 28th and 31st Streets in Parking Meter Zone D and to 1nstall park1ng ~eters on these streets. Background 28th and 31st Streets south of Ocean Park Boulevard were built to accomoctate the traffic generated from the Ocean Park Business Park located on the old McDonnell Douglas property. The streets are presently posted with "No Stopping Anytimell restriction. Staff has received several requests from tenants in the Bus1ness Park to allow on-street parking. The street was origlnally designed to facilitate two lanes of traffic in each dlrection and parallel park1ng on both sides of the street. Staff proposes to 1nsta11 parklng after the first major driveway on both sldes of 28th and 31st Streets south of Ocean Park Boule- vard. This will provide the optimal layout for parking and adequately handle all of the Business Park traffic (Attachment). The cost to install the 130 meters and poles will be $33,400. Funds are available in the Parking Meter Fund. Recommendat1on It 1S recommended City Council direct the City Attorney to draft an ordinance including 28th and 31st Streets in Parking Meter Zone D. ~L. MAY 2 7 1930 -#' .
