INTRODUCTION
Th1S report transMits for flrst readlng a proposed
ord1nance lncreas1ng on-street parklng meter rates In Zone A
(Santa ~onlca Mun1clpal Code 3393). The proposed ordinance
was requested by Staff as Item 6-0 and approved by Councll
at the May 27, 1980 neetlng.
BACKG"ROUND
Zone A as set forth In Santa Monlca Hunlclpa1 Code
Seetlon 3393 lS bounded by Ocean Avenue, Llncoln Boulevard,
Callforn1a Avenue and Colorado Avenue. The present parklng
meter rate 1n 7.oDe A 15 51xty (60) mlnutes for ten (10) cents.
The proposed ord1nance w1ll ralse thlS rate to Slxty (60)
minutes for twenty f1ve (25) cents. Th1S wlll requlre an
expend lture of S 60,000 from the Parking ....1eter Fund for the
replacement of 934 park1ng Meters in thlS zone. However, the
C lty h'lll rea 112e thlS a.r1ount ln less than one year of
operat1on at the 1ncreased rate.
