Ordinance Amending Sections 3393A and 3393E of
the Santa Monica Municipal Code Relating to
Parking Meter Zones
At its meeting on August 12, 1986, the City Council
introduced for first reading an ordinance establishing parking
meter rates of $.35 per hour in the Wilshire Boulevard, Santa
Monica Boulevard, and downtown areas, and rates of $.50 per hour
in the Main street and Ocean Avenue areas. The ordinance is now
presented to the city council for adoption.
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying
ordinance be adopted.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING SECTIONS 3393A
AND 3393E OF THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO PARKING METER ZONES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 3393A of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code is amended to read as follows:
SECTION 3393A. parkinq Meter Zone
"A. n
(a) The following named and
described streets or portions of streets
within the city shall constitute Zone nAtJ
namely:
(1) All streets lying within
the area bounded by Ocean Avenue, Lincoln
Boulevard, California Avenue and Colorado
Avenue,
including both side of the
boundary streets.
(2) All streets lying within
the area bounded by Wilshire Boulevard,
Santa Monica Boulevard! Lincoln Boulevard,

and the east City limits, including both
sides of the boundary streets.
(3) All of Lincoln Boulevard
between Santa Monica Boulevard to Olympic
Boulevard.
(b) parking a vehicle in a
designated space in Zone II A" shall be
lawful for sixty (60) minutes for each
thirty-five cents ($.35) in coin, and for
an additional sixty (60) minutes for each
thirty-five cents ($.35) in coin deposited
thereafter.
(e) Parking meters may be operated
in Zone "All twenty-four hours every day or
less, as posted by the Parking and Traffic
Engineer.
SECTION 2.
Section 3393E of the Santa Monica Municipal
Code is amended to read as follows:
SECTION 3393E. Parking Meter Zone

(a)
The
following named and
described streets or portions of streets
lying within the City shall constitute
Zone "Ell:
(1) All streets lying within
the area bounded by pico Boulevard, Third

Street, Southerly city limits and Neilson
Way, exclusive of the boundary streets.
(2) All of Ocean Avenue and
all streets southwesterly thereof.
(b) Parking a vehicle in a
designated space in Zone "E" shall be
lawful for sixty (60) minutes upon the
deposit of fifty cents ($.50) in coin, and
for an additional sixty (60) minutes for
each fifty cents ($.50) in coin deposited
thereafter.
(c) Parking meters may be operated
in Zone liE" twenty-four (24) hours per day
or less, as posted by the Parking and
Traffic Engineer.
SECTION 3. Any provision of the santa Monica Municipal
Code or appendices thereto inconsistent with the provisions of
this ordinance}' to the extent of such inconsistencies and no
further, is hereby repealed or modified to that extent necessary
to affect the provisions of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause,
or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of competent
jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of the ordinance.
The City council hereby
declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each and
every section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase not

declared invalid or unconstitutional without regard to whether
any portion of the ordinance would be subsequently declared
invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 5. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall
attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk shall
cause the same to be published once in the official newspaper
within 15 days after its adoption.
