INT~ODUCTION
Th~s report transmlts for adopt~on a proposed-ord~nance
amendlng Section 3393D of the Santa Monica ~un~cipal Code to
expand Parklng Meter Zone D to lnclude 28th and 31st Streets.
BACKGROUND

This ord1nance was introduced by Council as Item 8A at
~ts July 1, 1980 meeting, cont1nued from its June 24, 1980 meet1ng.
The streets were orlglnally deslgned to facl11tate two lanes
of trafflc in each direct10n with parallel parking on both sldes
of the streets. Parklng wlll be lnstalled after the f1rst major
driveway on both sides of 28th and 31st Streets south of Ocean
Park Boulevards. The cost of 1nstallat1on 1'\'111 be $33,400. Funds are
aval1able ln the Parking Meter Fund.
RECOW1ENDATIONS
It ~s respectfully recommended the Council adopt this
ordlnance expandlng Parking Meter Zone D and adopt the attached
~esolution approprlat~ng $33,400 from the Park~ng ~1eter Fund for
the installat~on of meters.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING CHAPTER 3A
OF A~TICLE III OF THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO PARKING METERS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. Section 33930(1) of the Santa Mon~ca
Municipal Code is amended and as amended shall read:
3393 D. Parking- Meter Zone "0"
(1) The fo11ow~ng named and described, streets or
port1on of streets of the Clty shall const~tute
Zone 'D"; namely
(a) P~co BOUlvard to the South Clty L~~ts,
Nellson Way to Ocean Avenue - Barnard Way ~nclus~ve.
(b) All of the westerly port~on of Lincoln
Boulevard from Mich~gan to P~co Boulevard.
(c) Both sldes of 28th Street and 31st street
south of Ocean Park Boulevard.
SECTION 2. Any nrOV15~on of the Santa Monlca Mun~clPal
Code or appendices thereto inconslstent therew1th, to the
extent of such ~ncons~5tenc~es and no further, are hereby
repealed or modlf1ed to that extent necessary to affect the
prov~Slons of th1S ordlnance.
SECTION 3. If any sect~on, subsect~on, sentence,
clause, or phrase of this ordlnance ~s for any reason
held to be 1nva1id or unconst~tutlonal by a dec~s~on
of any court of any competent Jurisdict~on, such dec~sion
shall not affect the validity of the reMa1n~ng port~ons

of the ord~nance. The C~ty Council hereby declares that
~t would have passed this ordinance and each and every
sect~on, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase not
declared invalid or unconstitut~onal w~thout regard
to whether any port~on of the ord~nance would be subsequently
declared ~nvalid or unconst~tutional.
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall s~gn and the C~ty Clerk
shall attest to the passage of th~s ordinance. The City
Clerk shall cause the same to be publ~shed once In the
off~cal newspaper within f~fteen {IS} days after ~ts adoption.
The ordinance shall become effective after thlrty (30)
days from ~ts adopt~on.
