SUBJECT: Ordlnance Increaslng Parklng Meter Rates In
Varlous Areas of the Clty
InTRODUCTION
ThlS report transmlts for lntroductlon a proposed ordlnance
amencllng Sectlons 3393C and 33930 of the Santa I'1onlca Hunlclpal
Code to increase parklng meter rates In certaln areas of the Clty.
ThlS ardlnance was requested bv Councll as Item 6R at the
November 25, 1980 meetlng.
A.N.A.LYSIS
Park1ng meter rates are In the process or belng adJusted to
reflect the current eCOnOPllC sltuatlon. The proposed ord1nance
lncreases rates In Zone C In two dlfferent ways.
It amends
Sectlon 3393C to change t~e meter rate from S.05 an hour to $.10
an hour wlthln ParKlng Meter Zone C. It also re~oves a small
area (Ocean Park Boulevard between 25th Street and Centlnela Avenue
and all streets lntersectlng Ocean Park Boulevard frow that lnter-
sectlon to a pOlnt 300 feet north). ThlS lncreases ~eter rates
wlthln that area from $.05 an hour (Zone C) to $.25 an hour
(Zone D) .
It lS also antlclpated that lt wlll dlscourage Santa
Monlca Buslness Park eI'191oyees from par1:lng In the resldentlal
nelghborhood north of Ocean ?ark Boulevard.
