Th1S report 15 regardlng the park1ng fee at the C1V1C Auditor1um
and makes a recommendation regarding increaslng these fees.
Background
The parklng fee at the CiV1C Auditorlum has remained at one dollar
($1.00) s~nce July, 1971, and Staff feels C1ty should more fully
reallze the potentlal of thlS revenue resource. The h1gh qual1ty
of most C1V1C Auditor1Uffi events comb1ned with the easy access-
1bility, at the western terminus of the freeway system, to all
residents of the Los Angeles area has attracted large numbers of
non-resldent patrons and Staff feels lt most equ1table to distribute
the costs of provid1ng Audltor1um serV1ces among the actual facil-
lty users.
Current rates at some slmilar facil1tles are:
Anahelm Convention Center
Long Beach Convention Center
Inglewood Forum
Los Angeles Convent1on Center
MUS1C Center of Los Angeles
Pantages Theater
$1.50

2.00 (avg. of prlvate
lots)
Pasadena Center
Shubert Theatre

An lncrease 1n parklng rates to one dollar and f1fty cents ($1.50)
would represent approximately $46,000 1n additlonal annual revenue
to the City w1th no add1tional cost to the City.
Recommendatlon
City Staff recommends that City Council ammend Sectlon 6 of Resol-
ution 3579CCS to 1ncrease parklng fees at the Clvic AuditorlUffi to
one dollar and f1fty cents ($1.50) and rescind Resolution 4180 (CCS).
