Subject: Recommendation to Authorize City Manager to Execute
utility Agreements with Caltrans for Relocation of Sewer
and Water Lines in connection with Fourth Street On-Ramp
Construction Project.
INTRODUCTION
This report requests that City Council authorize the city Manager
to execute Utility Agreements No. 7Ut-9271 and No.7Ut-9272 with the
State of California,
Department of Transportation
for the
relocation
and
adjustment
of
sewer
and water
facilities,
respectively, ln Olympic Boulevard between Fourth street and
Lincoln Boulevard.
BACKGROUND
In connection with the construction of the new Santa Monica Freeway
Fourth street eastbound on-ramp, Cal trans will be modifying the
alignment and elevation of Olympic Boulevard.
The proposed
construction will require the relocation and adjustment of the
City's sewer and water lines in this area.
Cal trans has designed the new sewer and water lines to city of
Santa Monica standards and the plans for the work have been
approved by the city Engineer. The cost of the work, estimated to
be $172,200, will be borne by Caltrans. The work will be scheduled
so as not to disrupt utility service to any of the properties in
the area.

On-Ramp project is 12 months and will commence approximately March,
1991.
BUdqet/Financial Impact
The relocation and adjustment of the sewer and water line
facilities will be accomplished at no cost to the city.
RECOMMENDATIONS
It is recommended that City Council authorize the city Manager to
execute Utility Agreements No. 7Ut-9271 and No.7Ut-9272 with the
state of California which cover the relocation of water and sewer
line facilities in conjunction with construction of the Fourth
street on-ramp project.
