Subject: Yellow Loading Zone Ord1nance
Introduction
This report recommends C1ty Councll 1nstruct the C1ty Attorney to amend the
loadlng zone ord1nance to exclude the Santa Monica Pier.
Background
At the October 14, 1980. Clty Counc,l meet1ng, Councll adopted an ordinance
which establ1shed a fee to install or repaint loading zones and, effective
hours for loadlng zones (Item 6C) as between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Staff is requesting the Santa Mon1ca Pier be excluded from the 7 a.m. to
6 p.m. restrictlon and that loadlng zone be enforced on a 24 hour basls.
This is to fac11itate both pedestrlan and vehlcle safety by proh1bltlng ve-
hlcular traffic from parking on the east end of the Pier in the evening.
Recommendation
It 1S recommended City Councl1 lnstruct the City Attorney to amend the Loading
Zone ordinance to exclude the Pier from the 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. t1me perlod
