Background In 1977, the City of Santa Monica and Caltrans entered into a Local Agency/state Agreement which set forth the proportionate shares for federally-funded transportation/street projects between the City and the Federal Government. When the federally-funded projects for the City of Santa Monica are approved for construction, supplements to the original agreement which identify the respective amounts for the city and the Federal Government for the project must be authorized by resolution. To date, twelve projects have been entered into under this agreement. Resolutions for Program Supplement 11 (Pice Boulevard h-J:" JUN 1 3 1989 . . Reconstruction from 28th street to centinela Avenue) and program Supplement 12 (Landscape Improvements along wilshire Boulevard from Ocean Avenue to centinela Avenue) were adopted en June 14, 1988. The proposed project will consist of installing new traffic signal systems at five intersections and upgrading signal contro11ers to allow synchronization at eight intersections as follows: New Traffic Signal systems pico Boulevard and Ocean Avenue pico Boulevard and 11th street pice Boulevard and 14th street pico Boulevard and 28th Street pi co Boulevard and 33rd Street Controller Upgrades Colorado Avenue and 5th street Colorado Avenue and 6th street Colorado Avenue and 7th street pico Boulevard and Cloverfield Boulevard Olympic Boulevard and 11th street Olympic Boulevard and 14th street Olympic Boulevard and 17th Street Olympic Boulevard and 20th street The estimated construction cost for this project is $600,000. Under Supplement No. 13, the project will be financed 100% by Federal Aid-Urban funds. These funds can only be used for traffic signals on arterial streets. The intersections have been approved by Cal trans following a lengthy programming process. Supplement No. 13 reflecting the funding for this signal project must be executed so that the FAU funds may be released. A . . Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute the supplement is attached. Budqet(Financial Impact Budget authority is available in Account No. 43-770-416-000-923 in the amount of $600,000. Recommendation It is recommended that the City council adopt the attached resolution approving Project Supplement No. 13 to Local Agency/State Agreement 07-5107 for the Installation of New Traffic Signals and Upgrading of Existing Systems at Various Locations (Phase III). (CCS) RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING SUPPLEMENT NO. 13 TO THE LOCAL AGENCY/STATE AGREEMENT NO. 07-5107 FOR FEDERAL-AID FUNDS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF NEW TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND UPGRADING OF EXISTING SYSTEMS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS (PHASE III) THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica does hereby approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Program Supplement No. 13 to Local Agency/state Agreement No. 07-5107 setting forth the proportionate shares of the cost of the Installation of New Traffic Signals and upgrading of Existing Systems at various Locations (Phase III) . SECTION 2. The city Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ReSOlution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
