Background At the request of residents, staff prepared a streetlight petition for Alta Avenue between 4th street and First Court. The petition was circulated and returned, and the Council accepted the petition on April 28, 1987, along with streetlight petitions for other streets. However, property owners on Alta Avenue did not receive proper notice of the public hearing due to staff error. To rectify this oversight a public hearing was set for October 13, 1987. Notices were sent fifteen days in advance of the meeting to all property owners of the street, a notice was published in the newspaper, and the street was posted in accordance wi th the Improvement Act of 1911. After the public hearing and Council approval of the installation, the contractor will be instructed to proceed with the construction of streetlights on Alta Avenue. 1.B OCT 1 3 1987 . e L e BUdget/Financial Impact Alta Avenue was included in a streetlight district with several other streets. The contract to perform the work was awarded at the city Council meeting of September B, 19B7. I f Al ta Avenue streetlights are not approved by the City Council this evening, a change order will be issued to the contract eliminating Alta Avenue lights and the City will receive a deduction of $19,855.
