Introduction
This report recommends that the City Councl1 set a publlC hearlng
for September 9, 1986, to conf~rm assessments for the
~nstal1atlon of streetllghts on Callfornia between 18th and 20th
Streets, 26th Street between P1CO and Pearl, 14th Street between
Wilshire and Santa Monlca, and Berkeley between wilsnire and
Santa Monlca.
Backgroun,:!
On August 13, 1985, the CIty CounCIl accepted streetllght
petltlons for the above streets and formed a streetl~ght
dlstrlct, and on February 11, 1986, a contract was awarded to
~nstall the streetlights. 'fhe work has been completed and the
street11ghts are operating. A publ~c hear~ng must be held
pursuant to Sect~on 5882 of the Callforn~a Streets and Hlghway
Code to conf~rm the assessments to the property owners for the~r
port~on of the cost of the proJect. A resolut~on settlng the
pub11C hearl.ng lS attached. A map and assessment roll WIll be
presented w~th the staff report at the tlme of the publlc
hearlng.

RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECfION 1. The Superlntendent of Streets wlll flle a
report of wor~ pursuant to SectIon 58d2 of the Streets and
H~gnways Code of the State of CalIfornIa, relatIng to the
installat~on of street lIghting completed on: Callfornla Street
between 18th and 20th Streets, 26th Street between PICO Boulevard
and Pearl Street, 14th Street between Wllshlre and Santa MonIca
Boulevards and Berkeley Street between Wl1shlre and Santa Monl.ca
Boulevards, all wlth~n the CIty of Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to SectIon 5870, et seq. of sa~d
Code, the Cl.ty Counc~l does hereby order and declare that on the
9tn day of September, 1986, In the Council Chambers of the CIty
Hall, It WIll hear and pass upon any and all obJectlons or
protests to the report of work of the SuperIntendent of Streets,
and the amount of the assessment ass~gned agaInst the real
property descrlbed In sa~d report.
SECTION J. All protests or obJectlons must be ~n
wrlt~ng and flIed WIth the CIty Clerk on or before the elffie set
for hearlng of protests and Ob]2ctlons.

C~ty taxes or as known to the Clty Clerk.
