Hill street between 23rd and 25th streets

9th, 12th, and Princeton streets between Wilshire
Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard
Franklin street from Wilshire to approximately 1800'

Introduction
This report recommends that the City Council set a public hearing
for May 26, 1987, to confirm assessments for installation of
streetlights on the above streets.
Background
Streetlight petitions from residents of the above streets were
accepted by the city Council on January 14, 1986, and a public
hearing was set for February 25, 1986. The public hearing was
held and the council ordered the project to proceed. staff
designed the project and a contract to construct the streetlights
was awarded on September 9, 1986.
The work is complete and assessments are due. In accordance with
state law, a public hearing must be held to confirm the
assessments. The attached resolution sets the public hearing for
May 26, 1987. A Notice of Public Hearing with the amount of
assessment will be sent to each property owner 15 days in '--M

advance. Also, the notice will be published in the Evening
Outlook for two consecutive days 15 days in advance of the public
hearing.
Budget/Financial Impact
The total cost of the project is $282,960. The City's cost is
approximately $161,285 and approximately $121,675 will be
assessed to property owners. $195,576 is presently encumbered at
Account No. 01-770-453-000-905 for the city's share. The
encumbrance will be reduced to $161,285.
A detailed assessment report will be presented at the public
hearing.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached
resolution setting a public hearing for May 26, 1987, to confirm
assessments for installation of streetlights on:
Hill street between 23rd and 25th streets
Yale and Harvard streets between Colorado and Santa
Monica Boulevard
9th, 12th, and Princeton streets between Wilshire
Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard
Franklin street from Wilshire to approximately 1800'
Northwesterly

. SECTION 3. All protests or objections must be in
writing and filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set
for hearing of protests and objectio~s.
SECTION 4. The Clty Clerk is hereby directed to mail
notices, in the manner and form prescribed by law, of the
adoption of this Resolution to all persons owning real property
in the hereinbefore described assessment district whose names and
add~esses appear on the last equalized assessment roll for the
City taxes or as known to the City Clerk. A Notice of Assessment
shall also be published in the Evening Outlook for two
consecutive days fifteen days prior to the publlC hearing.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certl=y to the
adoption of this Resolution, and thencefo~th and the~eafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
