Introductlon
This report requests the Clty Councll set a public hearlng for
the assessment of costs fo r street 11ghtlng on the above named
streets.
Background
On October 12, 1982, the City Councll awarded a contract for the
installatlon of street 11ghting on varlOUS streets as named
above. The work has been completed and property owner's share of
the costs will now be due. A public heanng must be held
pursuant to Sectlon 5882 of the California Streets and Highway
Code. A resolutlon settlng the publlC hearing is attached. A
Property Map and Assessment Ro 11 will be presented with the staff
report at the tlme of the pub11C heanng.
Flnancla1 Analysls
The assessments w 1 11 defray one-half the cost of the llghtlng
contract. Monles from the Clty.S General Fund have been used to
flnance the remainder of the cost to the contractor.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING FOR
ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO THE
CONFIRMATION OF ASSESSMENTS FOR STREET
LIGHTING ON VARIOUS STREETS~ ALL WITHIN THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION L That the Superintendent of Streets wl11
fl1e a report of work pursuant to Section 5882 of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of California. relatlng to the
installation of street lighting completed on: 25th Street from
Pearl to Ocean Park. Euclid between Brentwood Terrace and
Georglna. 12th Street between Marguerlta and Alta and Berkeley
between Montana and Wilshire~ all w1thin the City of Santa
Monica.
SECTION 2.. That pursuant to Section 5870. et seq. of
said Code. the City Council does hereby order and declare that on
the 26th day of July. 1983. in the Council Chambers of the City
Ha 11 . it wi 11 hear and pass upon any and a 11 obJections or
protests to the report of work of the Superintendent of Streets,
and the amount of the assessment asslgned against the real
property descrlbed in said report.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objectlons must be in
writing and filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set
for hearing of protests and objections.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to mail
notices. in the manner and form prescnbed by law, of the

adoption of this resolutlon to all persons owning real property
in the hereinbefore described assessment distrlct whose names and
addresses appear on the last equalized assessment roll for City
taxes or as known to the City Clerk.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution~ and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
