ThIS report requests the Cl. ty CouncIl set a pUblic hear ing for
February 25, 1986, to hear protests regardIng the work and to
confIrm the assessments for gutter constructIon and street
resurfaCIng on:
MIchIgan Avenue from CloverfIeld to the easterly end
Broadway from 17th Street to CloverfIeld
Nebraska from Stewart Street to Centlnela Avenue
CommerCIal/IndustrIal PortIons of:
32nd Street from PICO Boulevard to Ocean Park Boulevard
33rd Street from Pico Boulevard to Ocean Park Boulevard
18th Street from Wllshlre Boulevard to Montana Avenue
Background
On February 26, 1985, the CIty CouncIl formed an assessment
dlstrlct and set a publIC hear 109 for gutter and street
resurfaclng In conJunctIon with the 1984-85 Street ResurfaCIng
Program for:
Michlgan Avenue from Cloverfie1d to the easterly end
Broadway from 17th Street to 26th Street*
Nebraska from Stewart Street to Centlne1a Avenue
commercial/Industrial Portlons of:
32nd Street from PICO Boulevard to Ocean Park Boulevard
33rd Street from PICO Boulevard to Ocean Park Boulevard
18th Street from Wl1shIre Boulevard to Montana Avenue
*Colorado between Cloverf.leld and 26th Street was deleted from
the or IgInal scope of work. The developer of COlorado Place
Phase II WIll construct gutters and resurface the street as part
of the development agreement.

Property owners were notIfied and
the publiC hearIng was held on March 5, 1985. After closLng the
publ1C hearing, the CouncIl ordered the work to commence.
The work has been completed and commerclal and Industrlal
property owner assessments are now due.
A publ ic hear ing to
conf~rm the assessments must be held pursuant to SectIon 5882 of
the
CalIfornIa
Streets
and
HIghways
Code.
The
attached
resolutlon sets the publlC hearIng for February 25, 1986.
CommercIal and IndustrIal property owners wIll be notifLed of the
date ten days prIor to the publIC hearIng.

A detaIled fInancial analysls Indlcatlng total revenues to be
receIved wIll be presented at the tlme of the publIC hearIng.
RecommendatLon
It IS recommended that the CIty CounCll adopt the attached
resol utlon settIng a publ ic hear lng for February 25, 1986, to
confIrm the assessments for gutter and street resurfacing on the
above-mentIoned streets.

CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A PUBLIC
HEARING FOR FEBRUARY 25, 1~86: TO HEAR
ANY PROTESTS OR OBJEc'rIONS TO THE
CONFIRMATION OF ASSESSMENTS FOR GUTTER
INSTALLATION AND STREET RESURFACING ON
VARIOUS CITY STREErs
- THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Tha t the Super lntendent of Streets will
fIle a report of work pursuant to Section 5882 of the Streets and
HIghways code of the State of California, relating to the
construct~on of certlan Improvements completed on:
MIchigan
Avenue from Cloverfleld to the easterly end, Broadway from 17th
Street to Cloverfleld, Nebraska from Stewart Street to Centinela
Avenue, CommercIal/IndustrIal PortIons of: 32nd Street from Pico
Boulevard to Ocean Park Boulevard, 33rd Street from Pico
Boulevard to Ocean Park Boulevard, 18th Street from WIlshIre
Boulevard to Montana Avenue, all wlthln the CIty of Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5870 et seq. of
saId code, the Clty Councll does hereby order and declare that on
the 25th of February, 1986, at 7:30 p.m., In the CounCIl Chambers
of Clty Hall, It WIll hear and pass upon the report by the
Superlntendent of Streets, of the cost of construction together
wIth any obJectIons or protests, lf any, WhICh may be raIsed by
any property owner liable to be assessed for the cost of such
constructIon and any other Interested persons.

SECTION. That all protests or ~ctions must be in

for hearing of protests and obJections.
SECTION 4.
The Superintendent: of Streets IS hereby

dIrected to mail notices, in the manner and form prescr ibed by
law, of the cost of construction and of the adoptIon of thIS
ResolutIon to all persons owning commercIal or lndustr lal real
property In the hereinbefore descrIbed assessment distrIct whose
names and addresses appear on the last equalized assessment roll
for the City taxes or as known to the CIty Clerk.
SECTION 5.
The City Clerk snaIl certIfy to the
adoptIon of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter, the
same shall be in full force and effect.
