SUBJECT: Resolution of Intention to Construct Concrete Gutters on
Main Street from Pica Boulevard to Hollister Avenue (G-80-4).
Setting a Public Hearing for August 12~ 1980
Introduction
This report recommends an Assessment District be formed to construct concrete
gutters on Main Street from Pico Boulevard to Hollister Avenue.
Background
In accordance with present City Council pOlicy. Staff requests an Assessment
Dlstr1ct be formed under Chapter 27 of the 1911 Improvement Act 1n order to
construct concrete gutters on that portion of Ma1n Street between Pico Boule-
vard and Hollister Avenue. This area was approved for construction and street
resurfacing at the June 24, 1980, Council Meeting (Item 6-E-17). If the Council
approves the establishment of Main Street between Pico and Hollister as an
Assessment District~ the estimated assessment to the property owner will be
$8.50 per front foot.
Recommenda ti on
It is recommended the Council adopt the Resolution of Intentlon setting a
Public Hearing for August 12, 1980.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT
GUTTERS ALONG MAIN STREET BETWEEN PICO BOULEVARD
AND HOLLISTER AVENUE IN THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
\'JHEREAS ~ the C1 ty Counc1l of the Ci ty of Santa Mom ca is
empowered by Sect10n 5870, et seq. of the Streets and Highways Code
of the State of Cal1fornia to construct gutters at various locations
within the Clty of Santa Monica;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ~ONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the publlC interest requires and lt 1S the
intent10n of the City Council of the City of Santa Monica to order the
follow1ng work to be done~ to Wlt: The construction of concrete gutters
along Maln Street from Pico Boulevard to Hollister Avenue all in the C1ty
of Santa Monica. The estimated asseSSQent cost of the lmprovement is $5.00
per front foot.
SECTION 2. That said proposed work or lmprovement in the
opln10n of the Clty Council of the City of Santa Monica is of more than
local or ordinary public benefit, and sald Council hereby proposes that
the dlstrict in the City of Santa Monica to be benefited by said work or
improvement and to be assessed to pay the cost and expense thereof,
lncludes all of the property abutting Main Street between P1CO Boulevard
and Holllster Avenue.
SECTION 3. Notice hereby is glven pursuant to said Section
5870 et seq. that on August 12~ 1980. at the hour of 7:30 p.m. in the
Councll Chambers in the City Hall of said City of Santa Monica, situated

at 1685 Main Street 1n said City, any and all persons having any objections
to the proposed work or improvement may appear before the City Council and
show cause why the said proposed work Dr improvement should not be carried
out 1n accordance with said Resolution of Intention.
SECTION 4. The Superintendent of Streets immed1ately shall cause
to be conspicuously posted along the line of said contemplated improvement
notice of the passage of this Resolution of Intentlon in the manner and form
prescribed by law.
The Ci ty Cl erk hereby is di rected to mail not1 ce, 1 n the manner
and form prescribed by law, of the adoption of this Resolution to all persons
owning real property in the hereinbefore described assessment district, whose
names and addresses appear on the last equalized assessment roll for city
taxes or as known to the City Clerk.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the sa~e shall be in full force and
effect.
