Introduction
This report recommends that the City Council set a public hearing
for June 9, 1987, to hear protests regarding the work and to
confirm the assessments for gutter construction and street
resurfacing on Wilshire Boulevard from 21st street to Centinela.
Background
Wilshire Boulevard was reconstructed in two phases with federal
funds and city matching funds.
The first phase, from Ocean
Avenue to 21st Street, was completed in June 1983. The second
phase, 21st street to Centinela Avenue, was approved and budgeted
for FY 1984-85.
The proj ect was delayed primarily due to the
lengthy approval process required by Caltrans (the administrative
agency for federal funds).
On March 12, 1985, the City Council approved the formation of an
assessment district and set a public hearing for April 9, 1985,
for gutter installation and street resurfacing on Wilshire
Boulevard from 21st street to Centinela Avenue. Property owners
were notified of the public hearing in accordance with state law.
The public hearing was held and Council ordered the work to be
done.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA SETTING PUBLIC HEARING FOR ANY
PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO THE CONFIRMATION OF
ASSESSMENTS FOR GUTTER INSTALLATION AND STREET
RESURFACING ON WILSHIRE BOULEVARD BETWEEN 21ST
STREET AND CENTINELA

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Superintendent of Streets will file a
report of work pursuant to section 5882 of the streets and
Highways Code of the state of California, relating to gutter
installation and street resurfacing on Wilshire Boulevard between
21st street and Centinela in the city of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to sections 5870 et. seg. of said
Code, the City council does hereby order and declare that on the
9th day of June, 1987, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, it
will hear and pass upon any and all objections or protests to the
report of work of the Superintendent of Streets, and the amount
of the assessment levied against the real property in said
report.
SECTION 3. All protests or objections must be in
writing and filed with the city Clerk on or before the time set
for hearing of protests and objections.
SECTION 4. The city Clerk is hereby directed to mail
notices, in the manner and form prescribed by law, of the
adoption of this Resolution to all persons owning real property
in the hereinbefore described assessment district whose names and
addresses appear ~ the last equalized asses~nt roll for the

i city taxes or as known to the city Clerk. A Notice of Assessment -
shall also be published in the Evening Outlook for two

consecutive days fifteen days prior to the public hearing.
SECTION 5. That the city Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
