Introductlon
The Clty Counell set a PubllC Hearl ng for the assessment of costs
to repalr damaged sldewalks, drlveways and curbs at various areas
withln the C 1 ty . It 1 S recommended that Counc1l adopt the
attached Resolutlon conflrmlng the assessment of costs.
Background
On November 9, 1982, the Clty Council set a public heanng for
December 14, 1982, on the assessment of costs to repalr damaged
sldewalks, dn veways and curbs wlthln the Clty of Santa Monlca.
Letters were malled to each property owner 1n accordance wlth the
legal requirements of Chapter 22 of the Improvement Act of 1911
1 n form 1 n 9 them of the publlC hear1ng on December 3 , 1982.
Recommendatlon
It 1 S recommended the Clty Counell:
1. Open the PubllC Hearlng;
2. Close the Public Hearlng and aCknowledge any protests; and
3. Adopt the Resolutlon conflrmlng the assessments.

cost of the sldewalk repair, 1 n connection w1th the
above -des c rl bed proJect, together with any obJectlons and
protests, if any, WhlCh may be raised by any property owner liable
to be assessed for the cost of such sldewalk repa1r and any other
1nterested persons.

STREET SUPERINTENOENT1S REPORT
REPAIR OF DAMAGED SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS, CURBS,
AND/OR REMOVAL OF OBSTRUCTIONS, PERFORMED
UNDER PROVISIONS OF DIVISION 7, CHAPTER 22,
SECTIONS 5600 TO 5630, OF THE STREETS AND
HIGHWAYS CODE OF THE STATE OF CALI FORN IA
(SR-82-38)
Pursuant to the provlslons of Division 7, Chapter 22,
Sectlons 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Highways Code of the
State of California, the following work was caused to be done by
the Street Supen ntendent:
The removal and replacement of 30 square feet
of PC concrete on sldewalks at $3.00 per
sq ua re foot;
The removal and replacement of 590 square feet
of PC concrete on sldewalks at $4.00 per
square foot;
The removal and replacement of 188 square feet
of PC concrete on drl veways at $4.00 per
sq ua re foot; and
The removal and replacement of 135 square feet
of PC concrete on dn veways at $5.00 per
s qua re foot;
The removal and replacement of 10l1neal feet
of PC concrete on curbs at $10.00 per llneal
foot; and
The removal of 210 square feet of PC concrete
at $2 per square foot.
The total cost of the above work was $4,497.00.
The total proposed assessment for the above sldewalk and
curb damage 15 $2,198.50 or 50 percent of the total cost. The
other 50 percent of the cost 1 5 belng paid by the Clty as the
above repalrs were caused by tree root damage.

The removal and replacement of 513.4 square
feet of PC concrete at $4.00 per square foot;
The removal and replacement of 172.5 square
feet of PC concrete at $5.00 per square fo ot ;
The removal and replacement of 23linea1 feet
of PC concrete curb at $10.00 per 1 i neal foot;
and
The total proposed assessment for sldewalks and curbs 1 s
$3,146.00 or 100 percent of the total cost as the damage was not
related to tree roots.
