May 10, 1983 on the Assessment of Costs
to Repalr Damaged Sldewalks, Drlveways,
and Curbs on Varlous Streets (SR-83-45)
Introductlon
ThlS report requests the Clty Councll set a publlC hearlng for May
10, 1983, to hear protests regardlng the work and conflrm the
assessments of the cost to repa1r damaged sldewalks, drlveways and
curb s .
Background
On October 9, 1979, the C1ty Counc11 approved a sidewalk repalr
program WhlCh provided for property owner part1clpation 1n the
cost of repa1rlng damaged sldewalks. Property owner particlpatlon
is 50% of the cost of the repalrs 1f the damage is related to tree
roots; the City pays the remalnlng 50% of the cost of the repa1r.
Property owners are assessed 100% of the cost lf the damage 1S not
related to tree roots.
Certain repair work has been completed at the followlng addresses
and the property ownersl share of the costs are now due: 1916 18th
St., 1913 18th St., 1834 18th St., 1828 18th St., 1952 18th St.,
1727 Delaware, 1814 19th St., 1908 19th St., 1924 19th St., 1928
19th St., 1938 19th St., 1944 19th St., 1948 19th St., 1956 19th
St., 1964 19th St., 2004 19th St., 2012 19th St., 2018 19th St.,

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY
PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE
SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDING REPAIR OF
SIDEWALKS~ DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS. (SR-83-45)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets will flle

a report of repalr pursuant to Section 5617 of the Streets and
H1 ghways Code of the State of California, relating to the
construction of certa1n improvements to sidewalks and driveways at
1916 18th St., 1913 18th St., 1834 18th St.~ 1828 18th St., 1952
18th St. , 1727 Delaware, 1814 19th St. , 1908 19th St., 1924 19th
St . ~ 1928 19th St., 1938 19th St., 1944 19th St., 1948 19th St.,
1956 19th St., 1964 19th St., 2004 19th St.~ 2012 19th St., 2018
19th St. , 1801 19th St. and 1833 19th St, all within the City of
Santa Mon1ca.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5600 et seq. of
said code, the City Council does hereby order and declare that on
the 10th day of May, 1983, at 7:30 P.M., 1n the Council Chambers
of the City Ha 11 . it w1ll hear and pass upon the report by the
Superintendent of Streets of the cost of repair, together with any
obJect1ons or protests, 1 f any. which may be raised by any
property owner llable to be assessed for the cost of such repalr
and any other lnterested persons.

SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be 1n
writ1ng and fi 1 ed \Iii th the Ci ty Clerk on or before the t1me set
for hear1ng of protests and obJectlons.
SECTION 4. The Supen ntendent of Streets is hereby
directed to ma 11 notices, in the manner and form prescribed by
law, of the cost of repa1r and of the adopt1on of this resolut1on
to all persons O\rln in 9 real property affected by the sldewalk
assessment repair program, whose names and addresses appear on the

last equal1zed assessment ro 11 for the City taxes or as kno\r/n to
the C1ty Clerk.

SECTION 5. The C1ty Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of th1S resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
