Introductlon
ThlS report requests the C1ty Council set a pub11c hearlng for
June 14, 1983, to hear protests regardlng the work and conflrm the
assessments of the cost to repa1r damaged s1dewal ks, dnveways and
curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the Clty Councll approved a sldewalk repa1r
program WhlCh provlded for property owner part1c1patlon in the
cost of repairlng damaged sldewalks. Property owner partic1pat1on
1 s 50% of the cost of the repairs lf the damage is related to tree
root s ; the C1ty pays the remainlng 50% of the cost of the repalr.
Property owners are assessed 100% of the cost lf the damage lS not
related to tree roots.
Certaln repalr work has been completed at the following addresses
and the property ownersl share of the costs are now due: 2125 21st
St. , 2315 21st St., 2141 21st St. , 2201 21st St., 2247 21st St.,
2341 21st St., 2345 21st St., 2411 21st St., 2425 21st St. ~ 2421
21st St. , 2435 21st St. , 2428 21st St . ~ 2445 21st St. , 2422 21st
St. , 2432 21st St., 1428 25th St., 1424 25st St., 2452 21st St.,

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY
PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE
SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDING REPAIR OF
SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS. (SR-83-47)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Superintendent of Streets will fil e
a report of repair pursuant to Section 5617 of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of California, relating to the
construction of certain improvements to sidewalks and driveways at
2125 21st St., 2315 21st St., 2141 21st St., 2201 21st St., 2247
21st St., 2341 21st St., 2345 21st St., 2411 21st St., 2425 21st
St. ; 2421 21st St., 2435 21st St., 2428 21st St., 2445 21st St.,
2422 21st St., 2432 21st St., 1428 25th St., 1424 25st St., 2452
21st St., 2451 21st St. and 2503 21st St., all within the City of
Santa Monica. A public hearing must be held pursuant to
provisions all within the City of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5600 et seq. of
said code, the City Council does hereby order and declare that on
the 14th day of June, 1983, at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers
of the City Hall, lt will hear and pass upon the report by the
Superintendent of Streets of the cost of repair, together with any
objections or protests, if any, which may be raised by any
property owner liable to be assessed for the cost of such repa1r
and any other interested persons.

SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be in
writing and filed with the City Clerk on or before the time set
for hearing of protests and objections.
SECTION 4. The Superintendent of Streets is hereby
directed to mail notices. in the manner and form prescribed by
law, of the cost of repair and of the adoption of this resolution
to all persons owning real property affected by the sidewalk
assessment repalr program. whose names and addresses appear on the
last equalized assessment roll for the City taxes or as known to
the City Clerk.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
