Introduct1on
Th1S r e port requests the C1ty Counc11 set a public heanng fa r
August 9, 1983. to hear protests regard1ng the work and conflrm
the assessments of the cost to repair damaged sldewalks, drlveways
and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979. the Clty Counc11 approved a sidewalk repalr
program WhlCh provlded for property owner partlclpat10n ln the
cost of repalrlng damaged sldewalks. Property owner part1clpatlon
1 s 50% of the cost of the repalrs lf the damage 15 related to tree
r 0 at s ; the Clty pays the remalning 50% of the cost of the repalr.
Property owners are assessed 100% of the cost if the damage 1 S not
related to tree root s .
Certaln repalr work has been completed at the followlng addresses
and the property owners1 share of the costs are now due: 2455

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY counCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A HEARING DATE FOR ANY
PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO THE REPORT OF THE
SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS REGARDING REPAIR OF
SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS. (SR-83-50)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Super1ntendent of Streets will f11 e
a report of repalr pursuant to Section 5617 of the Streets and
Hlghways Code of the State of Californla, relating to the
constructlon of eertaln lmprovements to sidewalks and driveways at
2455 Callfornia, 357 24th St., 2300 Californla, 2441 Californla,
2004 Callfornla, 1333 Ocean, 2450 Chelsea Pl., 1045 23rd St., 801
Idaho, 2702 Washlngton, 2471 Oak, 2462 Oa k , 2470 Oak, 2561 Oak,
2449 Oak, 2453 Oak, 425 11th St. and 417 11th St., all wlthin the
Clty of Santa Monlea. A publlc hearing must be held pursuant to
provislons all withln the Clty of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 5600 et seq. of
said code, the Clty Council does hereby order and declare that on
the 9th day of August, 1983. at 7:30 P.M., in the Counel1 Chambers
of the City Hall, it will hear and pass upon the report by the
Superlntendent of Streets of the cost of repair, together with any
objections or protests, 1 f any, whTch may be raised by any
property owner liable to be assessed for the cost of such repair
and any other interested persons.

SECTION 3. That all protests or objectlons must be 1 n
wr1ting and filed wlth the Clty Clerk on or before the t1me set
for hearing of protests and obJectIons.
SECTION 4. The Supe r1 ntendent of Streets is hereby
d1rected to ma 11 notices, ln the manner and form prescribed by
1 aw, of the cost of repair and of the adoption of th1S resolut10n
to all persons owning re a 1 property affected by the s1de\'la1k
assessment repair program, whose names and addresses appear on the
last equa11zed assessment roll for the C,ty taxes or as known to
the City Clerk.
SECTION 5. The C,ty Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of th,s resolut10n and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be in fu 11 force and effect.

This report requests the Clty Councll set a publlC hearlng for
July 26, 1983, to hear protests regardlng the work and conflrm the
assessments of the cost to repair damaged sldewalks, drlve,:\s and
curbs,

Background
On October 9, 1979, the City Councll approved a sldewalk repa i r
program WhlCh provlded for prope rty owner partlcipatlon ln the
cost of repairlng damaged sldewalks. Property owner partlclpatlon

roots; the City pays the remalning 50% of the cost of the repair.

assessment repair programt whose names and addresses appear on the
last equalized assessment roll for the City taxes or as known to
the City Clerk.

of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
