Introduct~on
Th~s report requests that Clty Counc~l hold a pub1~c hearlng for
the assessment of costs to repair damaged sldewalks, driveways and
curbs at varlOUS areas with~n the Clty. It lS recommended that
Council adopt the attached Resolution confirming the assessment of
costs.
Background
On January 10, 1984, the City CounCll set a public hearing for
February 14, 1984, on the assessment of costs to repair damaged
sidewalks, driveways and curbs withln the C~ty of Santa Monica.
Letters were mailed to each property owner on January 27, 1984, in
accordance with the legal requirements of Chapter 22 of the
Improvement Act of 1911 informing them of the public hearing.
Budget!F~nanclal Impact
This assessment dlstr~ct wlll generate revenues to the Clty in the
amount of $5,255.50. (Any unpa~d assessments wl1l be placed on
the 1984 property tax blll.)
Recommendatlon
It is recommended the City Council:
1. Open the public hearing;
2. Close the public hearing and acknowledge any protests: and

REPAIR OF DAMAGED SIDU'JALKS, DR I V [Vi A Y S , CURBS,
AND/OR REMOVAL OF OBSTRUCTIONS, PERFORMED
UNDER PROVISIONS OF DIVISION 7, CHAPTER 22,
SECTIONS 5600 TO 5630, OF THE STREETS AND
HIGHWAYS CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
(SR-84-55)
Pursuant to the provlslons of Dlvlslon 7 , Chapter 22,
Sectlons 5600 to 5630. of the Streets and Hlghways Code of the
State of Call fornl a, the followlng work was caused to be done by
the Street Superl ntendent:
The removal and replacement of 2250 square
fe et of PC concrete on sldewalks at $4 per
sq ua re fo ot ; and
The removal and replacement of 3237 sq ua re
fe et of PC concrete on sldewalks at $ 3 pe r
square foot; and
The removal of 17.5l1neal fe et of PC pavement
at $ 2 pe r llneal foot; and
The removal and replacement of 25 square feet
of PC concrete dn veway at $5 per square foot.
The total cost of the above work was $5,647.00.
The total proposed assessment for the above sldewalk and
curb da mag e 1 s $2.432.00 or 50 percent of the total cas t . The
ot her 50 percent of the cost 1 s belng pald by the Clty as the
above repa 1 rs we re caused by tree root damage.
