IntroductIon
H:IS report requests tte CIty CouncIL set a pUblic hearIng for
Arrll ?3, 1985, to tear protests regardIng the work and confIrm
tt:e assessrr.ents of the cost to repaIr darr:aged sldewalks,
drIveways and curbs.
BackgroUl1d
On October 9, 1979, the CIty Council approved a sidewalk repaIr
program WhICt. prOVIded for property owner participatIon In the
cost of repaIrIng damaged sIdewalks. ResIdentIal property owner
partIcipatIon IS 50% of tt:e cost of tte repaIrs If the d air age 13
related to tree roots; the City pays tte rerraInIng 50% of tte
cost of tte repaIr. Property owners are assessed 100% of tt.e
cost if the darr:age 13 not related to tree roots and cOIl'Ir.ercIal
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
CertaIn repaIr work has been co~pleted at the fOllowing addresses
and tt.e property owner 3' st.are of tt:e costs are now due for the
followIng propertIes; 1519 PaCIfIC, 1511 PaCIfIC, 1515 PacifIC,

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A HEARING
DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO
THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF
STREETS REGARDING REPAIR OF SIDE'rJALKS,
DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS (SR-85-61)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Tr..at tr..e Superintendent of Streets wIll
f~le a report of repaIr pur suan t to Section 5617 of the Streets
and Higt:ways Code of the State of CalIfornia, relatIng to the
constructIon of certain improvements to :ndewalks and drlveways
at 1519 PaCIfIc, 1511 Pacific, 1515 PacifIc, 465 22nd, 1512
PaCIfIc, 1502 PacifIc, 1520 PacifIc, 3231 Pearl, 3324 Pearl J and
718 LIncoln, all wIthIn the CIty of Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2. Ttat pursuant to Section 5600 et seq. of saId
code, the CIty Council does hereby order and declare that on the
23rd day of AprIl. 1985, at 7:30 P.M., In tte CouncIl Chambers of
the CIty Hall, It WIll r..ear and pass upon the rerort by the
SuperIntendent of Streets of the cost of repair. together with
any ObjectIons or protests. If any, WhICh may be raised by any
property owner lIable to be assessed for the cost of such repaIr
and any ott1er interested persons.
SECTION 3. That all protests or ObjectIons must be in
writlng and filed with the CIty Clerk oD or before the tlme set
for hearIng of protests and objectIons.

SECTION 4. The Superlntendent of Streets IS hereby
dIrected to rr.aIl notices, in tee manner and form prescrIbed by
law, of the cost of repaIr and of the adoptlon of this ResolutIon
to all persons ownIng real property affected by the sIdewalk
assessment repaIr program, whose names and addres:3es appe ar on
the last equalized assessrrent roll for tte CIty taxes or as known
to the Clty Clerk.
SECTION 5. The CIty Clerk shall certify to the adoptIng
of tl'as Resol ut 10n and thenceforth and thereafter t!:e same stall
be in full force and effect.
