on the Assessment of Co sts to RepaIr Damaged
SIdewalks, DrIveways, and Curbs on VarIous Streets

IntroductIon
ThIS report requests tr.e CIty Council set a publIC hearIng for
May 14, 1985, to hear protests regardIng the work and confIrm the
assesslJ'.ents of the cost to repair d am aged SIdewalks, drIveways
and curbs.
Background
On October 9 , 1979, tte City CouncIl approved a SIdewalk repaIr
prograrr. which prov Ided for property owner partIcipatIon 1n the
cost of repaIrIng damaged sidewalks. Residential property owner
partIcIpation IS 50',t of tte cost of the repaIrs If the damage IS
related to tree roots; tl:e City pays the rertalnlng 50% of tte
cost of the repaIr. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost If the damage is not related to tree roots and COffiIf'erclal
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of tl:e
cause of the dartage.
CertaIn repaIr work has been completed at tte followIng addresses
and the property owner s' share of the costs 1S now due for the
followlng propertIes; 1115 Princeton, 1023 Maple, 1507 Maple,

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A HEARING
DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO
THE REPORT OF' THE SUPERINTENDENT OF
STREETS REGARDING REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS,
DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS (SR-85-62)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ttat the Superintendent of Streets wIll
file a report of repaIr pursuant to SectIon 5617 of the Streets
and Higtways Code of the State of Call fornla , relatIng to tte
constructIon of certain Improvements to sidewalks and driveways
at 1115 Princeton. 1023 Maple, 1507 r-1aple, 922 San VIcente, 501
23rd, 476 23rd, 475 23rd, 402 23rd, 376 23rd, 201 23rd, and 458
21st Place, all WItt In the CIty of Santa MonIca.
SECTION 2. Ttat pursuant to Section 5600 et seq. of saId
code, the CIty Council does hereby order and declare that on the
14th day of May, 1935, at 7:30 P.M., in the Councll Chambers of
the Clty Hall, it will hear and pass upon the report by the
Superintendent of Streets of the cost of repair, together with
any obJ ect lons or protests, if any, which may be ralsed by any
property owner lIable to be assessed for the cost of such repair
and any other Interested per sons.
SECTION 3. That all protests or objections must be in
wrIting and flled wi th the Clty Clerk on or before the time set
for hearing of protests and obJectIons.

SECTION 4. Tte SuperIntendent of Streets is tereby
dIrected to mall notIces, in the manner and form prescribed by
law, of the cost of repaIr and of the adoptIon of this ResolutIon
to all persons oWn:!.ng real property affected by the sidewalk
assessment repaIr program, whose n am e s and addresses appear on
the last equalized assessment roll for the CIty taxes or as known
to the CIty Clerk.
SECTION 5. The CIty Clerk shall certIfy to the adopting
of this Resolution and thencefortt and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.
SECTION 6. The CIty Clerk stall certify to the adopt ion
of thIS ResolutIon and thencefortt and thereafter the same shall
be In full force and effect.
