on the Assessment of Costs to Repair Damaged
SIdewalks, Drlveways, and Curbs on Various Streets

Introduction
ThIS report requests the CIty Cou~CIl set a publIC hearIng for
June 11, 1985, to hear protests regardIng the work and confIrm
the assessmerlts of the cost to repau' damaged Sidewalks,
drlveways and curbs.
.!?ackground
On October 9, 1979. the CIty CounCIl approved a SIdewalk repaIr
program WhIch prOVIded for property owner partIcipation In the
cost of repaIrlilg damaged SIdewalks. ResidentIal property owner
partlclpatlOI1 IS 50% of the cost of the repaIrs If the damage 15
related to tree Y'ootSj the CIty pays the rePlalnlng 50% of the
cost of the repaIr. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost If the damage IS not related to tree roots and commercIal
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
Certain repaIr work has been completed at the folloWing addresses
and the property owners' share of the co st 5 IS now due for the
folloWing propertIes: 1043 Prl:1Ceton, 312 24th St.. 609 24th St.,
1146 24th St. , 1434 24th St., 1433 24th St., 1218 11 th St.,

CITY OF SANTA MONICA SETTING A HEARING
DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO
THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF
STREETS REGARDING REPAIR OF SIDEHALKS,
DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS (SR-85-64)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1- That the SuperHlteCldent of Streets wIll

the Clty Hall, it WIll hear a:1d pass upon the report by the
Superintende~t of Streets of the cost of repalr, togetheY' With
any obJectlons or protests, if any. WhlCh may be ralsed by any
property owner liable to be assessed for the cost of such repair
and any other interested persons.

the last equalIzed assessment roll for the City taxes or as known
to the CIty Clerk.
SECTION 5. The CIty CleY'k shall certIfy to the adoptIng
of thIS ResolutIon a:id the::Jceforth a;::d thereafter the sa:ne shall
be El full force and effect.
SECTION 6. The CIty Clerk shall certIfy to the adoptio:.
