SUBJECT: Resolutlon Sett1.ng a Publ1.c Hearlng for July 9, 1985,
on the Assessment of Costs to Repal.r Damaged S~dewalks,
Drl.veways, and Curbs on VarIOUS Streets (SR-85-66)
Introductl.on
ThlS report requests the CIty Council set a public hearIng for
July 9, 1985, to hear protests regardlng the work and confIrm the
assessments of the cost to repair damaged sidewalks, drlveways
and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the Clty Council approved a sldewalk repair
program WhlCh provlded for property owner partlclpatlon 1n the
cost of repa1r1ng damaged s1dewalks. Residential property owner
part1clpatlon 1S 50% of the cost of the repa1rs 1f the damage 1S
related to tree roots; the C1ty pays the rema1n1ng 50% of the
cost of the repa1r. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost If the damage 1.S not related to tree roots and eommerc1a1
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
Certa1n repaIr work has been completed at the following addresses
and the property owners' share of the costs IS now due for the
followlng propert1es: 478 24th St. , 256 24th St., 1826
CalIfornIa, 1205 P1ne, 504 24th St. , 604 24th St., 1811
Callforn1a, 250 25th St., 209 25th St. , 201 25th St. , 715 24th

The financIal analysls, WhiCh w1ll lnd1cate total revenues to be
derlved from thIS assessment dIstr1ct over the next two years,
will be presented to CIty Council at the t1me of pUblic hearIng.
RecommendatIon
It IS recommended the City Counc1l adopt the attached Resolut1on
setting a publ1C hearIng for July 9, 1985, on the assessment of
costs of the subJect SIdewalk repaIrs.

SECTION 2. That pursuant to Sectlon 5600 et seq. of sald
code, the CIty Councll does hereby order and declare tha ton the
9th day of July, 1985, at 7:30 P.M. , ln the Councll Chambers of
the Clty Hall, It wlll hear and pass upon the r epOl: t by the
Superlntendent of Streets of the cost of repa~r, together wlth
any obJect~ons or protests, lf any, wh~ch may be ralsed by any
property owner llable to be assessed for the cost of such repalr
and any other 1nterested persons.

w!"ltlng and filed w~th tne City Clerk on or before the tune set
for hearlng of protests and obJectIons.
SECtION 4. The Superlntendent of Streets ~s hereby
d~rected to mall notlces, 1n the manner and form preser1bed by
law, of the cost of repa1r and of the adoptJ.on of thJ.s Resolut~on
to all persons ownJ.ng real property affected by tne sldewalk
assessment repa1r program, whose names and addresses appear: on
the last equallzed assessment roll for the Clty taxes or as known
to the Clty Clerk.
SECTION 5. The Cl.ty ClerK shall certIfy to the adoptlng
of thl.s ResolutIon and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be 1n full force and effect.
SECTION 6. 1'he C1ty ClerK snaIl certl.fy to the adoptl.on
of thJ.5 Resolut10n and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be 1n full force and effect.
