1985, on the Assessment of Costs to Repalr Damaged
Sidewalks, Drlveways, and Curbs on VarlOUS Streets

IntroductIon
Th1.s report requests the Clty Council set a publIC nearlng for
August 13, 1985, to hear protests regard1ng the work. and confIrm
the assessments of the cost to repaIr damaged sldewalks,
driveways and curbs.
Backsround
On October 9, 1979, the Clty Councll approved a sldewalk repalr
program WhlCh provlded for property owner partiCIpatIon 1n the
cost of repalrlng damaged sldewalks. Residentlal property owner
partlclpation 1S 50% of the cost of the repalrs If the damage 1S
related to tree roots; the Clty pays the remalnlng 50% of the
cost of the repalr. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost If the damage 1.S not related to tree roots and commerCIal
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
CertaIn repaIr work has been completed at the folloWIng addresses
and the property owners' share of the costs IS now due for the
following propertles: 2216 MalO St., 2721 6th at., 2727 6th St. ,

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN-FA MONICA SETTING A HEARING
DAI'E FOR ANY PRO'rEs'rB OR OBJECTIONS TO
THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF
STREETS REGARDING REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS,
DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS (SR-85-68)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Superlntendent of Streets wl11 file a
report of repalr pursuant to Section 5617 of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of California, relatlng to the
construct1on of certaln improvements to sidewalks and driveways
at 2216 Main St., 2721 6th St., 2727 6th St., 2627 Llncoln Blvd.,
1018 Grant St. , 1047 Ocean Park Blvd. , 836 Asnland, 1918 Maln
St., 2519-2525 10th St. , 2634 3rd St., 2628 3rd St., 2912 3rd
St., 3009-301.1 2nd St. , 2936 Main St. , 2200 Main St., and 830
Maple St. all wlthln the C1ty of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to Sectlon 5600 et seg. of saId

code, the Clty Councll does hereby order and declare tha t on the
13th day of August, 1985, at 7:30 P.M., In the CounCl1 Chambers
of the Clty Hall, it wll1 hear and pass upon the report by the
Superlntendent of Streets of the cost of repalr, together with
any ob] ectlons or protests, lf any, which may be ralsed by any
property owner 11able to be assessed for the cost of such repair
and any other lnterested persons.

SECTION 4. The Superlntendent of Streets is hereby
directed to mall not1ces, in the manner and form prescrlbed by
law, of the cost of repair and of the adoption of this Resolution
to all persons ownlng real property affected by the sidewalk
assessment repair program, whose names and addresses appear on
the last equallzed assessment roll for the Clty taxes or as known
to the Clty Clerk.
SECTION 5. The Clty Clerk shall certIfy to the adopting
of th~s Resolut~on and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be 1.n full force and effect.
SECTION 6. Tne C~ty Clerk shall certlfy to the adopt~on
of thlS Resolutlon and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be ln full force and effect.
