Introductlon
ThIS report requests the CIty Council set a publIc hearlng for
October 1, 1985, to hear protests regardIng the work and confIrm
the assessments of the cost to repaIr damaged sIdewalks,
drIveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the Clty Councll approved a sldewalk repaIr
program WhIch provIded for property owner partlcipatlon In the
cost of repalrlng damaged sIdewalKS. ReS1dentlal property owner
partlC1.pat1on IS 50% of the cost of the repaIrs lf the damag e 15
related to tree roots; the CIty pays the remalnlng 50% of the
cost of the repalr. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost If tne damage 15 not related to tree roots and commerclal
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damagev
Certain repa1r work has been completed at the followlng addresses
and the property owners' share of the costs 15 now due for the
followlng properties: 953 20th Street, 2222 La M.esa Drlve, 937
2uth Street, 907 20th Street, 2318 PIer Avenue, 1021 20th Street,

derlved from thl.s assessment dl.strl.ct over the next two years,
WIll be presented to Cl.ty CouncIl at the tlme of publlC hearl.ng.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOwS:
SEC'fION 1.. The Superlntendent of Streets wl11 file a
report of repair pursuant to Sect10n 5617 of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of Callfornla, relating to the
constructIon of certal.n l.mprovements to sl.dewalks and driveways
at 953 20th Street, 2222 La Mesa Drive, 937 20th Street, 907 20th
Street, 2318 PIer Avenue, 1021 20th Street, 1015 20th Street, 941
20tn Street, 933 20th Street, 1007 20th Street, 927 20th Street,
1027 20th Street, 1057 20tn Street, 923 20th Street, 919 20th
Street, and 913 20th Street, all wIthin the City of Santa Monlca~
SEcrION 2~ Pursuant to Section 5600 et seq~ of saId
code, the Clty CouncIl does hereby order and declare tnat on the
1st day of October, 1985, at 7:30 P..M., In the CouncIl Chambers

Superlntendent of Streets of the cost of repalr, togetner wltn
any ObJections or protests, if any, whlch may be ralsed by any
property owner llable to be assessed for the cost of such repal.r

and flIed with the City Clerk on or before the time set for
hearing of protests and objections.
SECTION 11 . The SuperH1tendent of Streets 1S hereby
dIrected to mall notIces) In the manner and form prescribed by
law, of the cost of repal~ and of the adoption of thIS ResolutIon
to all persons mming real property affected by the sidewalk
assessment repau" program, whose names and addresses appear on
the last equalIzed assessment ,011 for the City taxes or as known
to the CIty Clerk.
SECTION 5. The CIty Cle:-k shall certIfy to the adopting
of thIS ResolutIon ar.d thenceforth and the.eafter the same shall
be in full fo.ce a~d effect.
SECTION 6. The CIty Clerx shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be In full fo.ce and effect.
