Introductlon
Th1s report requests the City Counc~l set a public hearlng for
February 11) 1986, to hear protests regardlng the work and
confirm the assessments of the cost to repair damaged sldewalks)
driveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9) 1979, the City Counell approved a sidewalk repair
program wh1ch provided for property owner partlcipation in the
cost of repairing damaged sldewalks. Residential property owner
particlpatlon is 50% of the cost of the repalrs if the damage is
related to tree roots; the City pays the remaining 50% of the
cost of the repalr. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost 1f the damage is not related to tree roots and commerC1al
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
CertalD repalr work has been completed at the following addresses
and the property owners' share of the cost is now due for the

A hearing must be held pursuant to the prov1sions of Chapter 22,
Sections 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Highways Code of the
State of Califoru1a. A Resolution sett1ng the publlC hearing for
February 11 , 1986. is attached.
Budget/Flnanclal Impact
The f1nanC1al analys1s, Wh1Ch will indicate total revenues to be
derived from thlS assessment distrlct over the next two ye a r s ,
will be presented to Clty Council at the t~me of public hear~ng.
Recommendation
It 1S recommended the City CounCll adopt the attached Resolution
setting a public hearing for February 11 , 1986, on the assessment
of costs of the sub] eet sidewalk repairs.

SECTION 1 . The Superintendent of Streets will file a

SECTION 2. Pursuant to Section 5600 et seq, of said
code, the City Council does hereby order and declare that on the
11th day of February, 1986, at 7:30 P.M. , in the Council Chambers
of the City Hall, it w~ll hear and pass upon the report by the
Superintendent of Streets of the cost of repair, together with
any obj ections or protests, if any, which may be raised by any
property owner liable to be assessed for the cost of such repair
and any other interested persons.

SECTION 3 . All protests or obj ections must be in writing
and filed with the Ci t Y Clerk on or before the time set for
