SUBJECT: ResolutIon SettIng a PublIC HearIng for March II, 1986,
on the Assessment of Costs to RepaIr Damaged SIdewalks;
DrIveways, and Curbs on VarIous Streets (SR-86-77)
IntroductIon
ThlS report requests the CIty CouncIl set a publIC hearIng for
Har-ch 11, 1986, to hear protests regarding the work and confIrm
the assessments of the cost to repaIr damaged sIdewalks,
drIveways and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the City CouncIl approved a sIdewalk repaIr-
program whIch prOVIded for property owner partIcipatIon in the
cost of repairIng damaged sIdewalks. ResIdentIal property owner
partlclpatlon IS 50% of the cost of the repalrs If the damage IS
related to tree roots; the CIty pays the remaInIng 50% of the
cost of the repair. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost If the damage IS not related to tree roots and commerCIal
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
Certain repair work has been completed at the followIng addresses
and the property owners' share of tne cost IS now due for the

A hear lng must be held pursuant to the provIsions of Chapter 22,
Sectlons 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and HIghways Code of the
State of CalIfornIa. A ResolutIon setting the public hearIng for
March 11, 1986, IS attached.
Budget/Flnanclal Impact
The fInancial analYSIS, WhiCh wlll lndicate total revenues to be
derIved from thIS assessment dIstrIct over the next two years,
WIll be presented to CIty CouncIl at the tlme of publIC hearlng.
RecommendatIon
It IS recommended the CIty CouncIl adopt the attached ResolutIon
setting a publIC hearlng for March II, 1986, on the assessment of
costs of the subJect SIdewalk repaIrs.

SECTION 4. The Super:Lntendent of Streets IS hereby
directed to mall not~ces, in the manner and form prescrIbed by
law, of the cost of repair and of the adoptIon of thIS ResolutIon
to all persons ownlng real property affected by the sidewalk
assessment repaIr program, whose names and addresses appear on
the last equalIzed assessment roll for the CIty taxes or as known
to the C~ty Clerk.
SEC'rION 5. The CIty Clerk shall certIfy to the adoptIng
of th:LS Resolutlon, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be ~n full force and effect.
