SUBJECT: Resolution Setting a Publ1C Hearing for July 8, 1986,
on the Assessment of Costs to Repa1r Damaged Sldewalks,
Drlveways, and Curbs on Various Streets (SR-86-83)
Introductlon
This report requests the Clty Counc1l set a publlc hear1ng for
July 8, 1986, to hear protests regard1ng the work and conf1rm the
assessments of the cost to repair damaged sldewalks, driveways
and curbs.
Background
On October 9, 1979, the C1ty Counc1l approved a sIdewalk repa1r
program WhICh prov1ded for property owner partlc1pat1on 1n the
cost of repalrlng damaged s1dewalks. ResldentIal property owner
part1c1pat1on 1S 50% of the cost of the repa1rs lf the damage 1S
related to tree roots; the Clty pays the rema1ning 50% of the
cost of the repair. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost 1f the damage 1S not related to tree roots and commercial
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
Certain repa1r work has been completed at the folloWing addresses
and the property owners' share of the cost 1S now due for the
follow1ng propert1es: 2301 Pearl Street, 2929 Delaware Avenue,
3064 Delaware Avenue, 2834 Delaware Avenue, 239 and 243 Bay
Street, 1214 PacIflc Street, 2641 32nd Street, 2628 32nd Street, b-C.
2612 32nd Street, 2812 ArIzona Avenue, 2627 Ar1zona Avenue, 2803 JUN 1 0 lni

A hearIng must be held pursuant to the provIsIons of Chapter 22,
Sections 5600 to 5630, of the Streets and Highways Code of the
State of California. A ResolutIon settIng the publIC hearing for
July 8, 1986, is attached.
Budget/FinancIal Impact
The financIal analysis, WhICh will Indicate total revenues to be
derived from thIS assessment district over the next two years,
will be presented to CIty CouncIl at the tIme of publlC hearing.
Recommendation
It is recommended the CIty CouncIl adopt the attached Resolution
setting a publIC hearing for July 8, 1986, on the assessment of
costs of the subject sidewalk repaIrs.

report of repaIr pursuant to SectIon 5617 of the Streets and
HIghways Code of the State of CalIfornIa, relatlng to the

the last equalIzed assessment roll for the CIty taxes or as known
to the CIty Clerk.
SECTION 5 . The Clty Clerk shall certIfy to the adoptIng
of thlS Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall
be In full force and effect.
