IntroductIon
This report requests the CIty Courcll set a publIC hearIng for
September 9, 1986, to hear protests regardIng the work and
cor fIrm the assessments of the C0St to repair damaged sIdewalks,
driveways and curbs.
Background
Or. October 9, 1979, the CIty CouncIl approved a sIdewalk repaIr
program WhIch provided for property owner partIcipatIon It":: the
cost of repal r lr'g damaged sidewalks. ResIdentIal property owr'er
particlpat1or. 1S 50% .)f the cost ,Jf the repaIrs If the damage 1S
related to tree roots; the CIty pays the remaInIng 50% of the
cost of the repair. Property OWflers are assessed 100% of the
cost If the damage IS r.ot related to tree roots and commercIal
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage.
CertalP repa1r work has been completed at the following addresses
ard the property owners' share ,Jf the cost is now due for the
following propertIes: 475 25th Street, 1704 Oak Street, 2010
Navy Street, 818 2r,d Street, 1131 2nd Street, 204 CalifornIa
Street, 1233 6th Street, 509 19th Street, 716 20th Street, 708
20th Street, 1807 Oak Street, and 1920 Alta Avenue.

DATE FOR ANY PROTESTS OR OBJECTIONS TO
THE REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT Of
STREETS REGARDING REPAIR OF SIDEWALKS,
DRIVEWAYS AND CURBS (SR-86-87)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA t10NICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 . The Superinter:dent of Streets vall file a
report of repalr pursuar.t to Section 5617 of the Streets and
Hlghways Code of the State of Californla, relatIng to the
construC'tlon of certalr:, Improvemerts to sldewalks and drlveways
at 475 25th Street, 1704 Oak Street, 2010 Navy Street, 818 2rd
Street, 1131 2rd Street, 204 Callforrla Street, 1233 6th Street,
509 19th Street, 716 20th Street, 708 20th Street, 1807 Oak
Street, ar,d 1920 Alta Aver:ue, all WIthIn the CIty 0f Santa
Monlca.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to SectIon 5600 et seq. of saId
code, the Clty Courcil does hereby order and declare that ~n the
9th day of September, 1986, at 7:30 P.l''', 1n the CouncIl Chambers
of the City Hall, It wlll hear and pass upon the report by the
SuperIntendent 0f Streets of the cost of rep81r, together ~Il th
any obJections or protests, lf any, WhlCh may be ralsed by any
praperty owner lIable to be assessed for the cost of such repair
and any other lrterested persons.

SECTION 5. The CIty Clerk shall certify to the adoptIng
of thIS Resolution, ar:d ther:ceforth ard thereafter the same shall
be In full force and effect.

Introductlon
ThIS report requests the Clty CouncIl set a publIC hearlng for
August 26, 1986, to hear protests regardlng the work and conflrm
the assessments of the cost to repalr damaged sldewalks,
drlveways and cUrbs~
Background
On October 9, 1979, the CIty CounCll approved a sldewalk repair
program WhlCh provIded for property owner partIclpatIon ln the
cost of repa1rlng damaged SIdewalks.. ResIdentIal property owner
partIclpatl.On IS 50% of the cost of the repalrs If the damage 15
related to tree roots: the CIty pays the remainlng 50% of the
cost of the repaIr.. Property owners are assessed 100% of the
cost If the damage 15 not related to tree roots and commerclal
property owners are assessed 100% of the cost regardless of the
cause of the damage..
Certaln repalr work has been completed at the follow1ng addresses
and the property owners' share of the cost 15 now due for the
