Subject: Recommendation to set a PubllC Hearlng for Bicycle Lanes.
Introducti on
ThlS report requests that City Council establish a publlC hearing on the
implementation of bicycle lanes on varlOUS City streets.
Background
At the May 27 City Council meetlng (Item ll-C)~ Staff presented a report
regarding bicycle projects in the City. City Council instructed Staff to
prepare plans to implement bicycle lanes on San Vlcente Boulevard between
26th Street and Ocean Avenue, Ocean Avenue between San Vlcente Boulevard
and Blcknell Avenue, Barnard Way Between Bicknell Avenue and Nielson Way,
Ocean Park Boulevard between Barnard Way and lincoln Boulevard, and Pearl
Street Between Llncoln Boulevard and 17th Street; and to report back for
publlC hearlngs prlor to installation. The estlmated cost of this project
is $37~OOO. The funds will come from SCAG's Bicycle and Pedestrlan Facil-
ities Grant allocatlon to the Clty.
Recommendation
It is recommended that City Council set a public hearing on October 14, 1980,
to hear protests on the implementatlon of bicycle lanes on San Vicente Boule-
vard between 26th Street and Ocean Avenue, Ocean Avenue between San Vlcente
Boulevard and Bicknell Avenue. Barnard Way between Bicknell Avenue and Nielson
