SR-701-006 (4) F:\Police\share\staffrpts\CCAPReso.doc Council Meeting: September 25, 2001 Santa Monica, California TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Recommendation to Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Accept a State Grant Award and Enter into a Grant Agreement for a CCAP (Career Criminal Apprehension Program) State-of-the-Art Project Introduction This report recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a $98,119 grant award and enter into a grant agreement with the State of California, Governor?s Office of Criminal Justice Planning (OCJP). Funds from this grant will be used to purchase software that aids Police Department efforts to identify and apprehend career criminals. Discussion On July 24, 2001, Council authorized acceptance of this grant award that will be used to purchase CrimeView mapping software and to develop a software interface between the Police Department?s Automated Mobile Field Reporting System and the FileNet document library. OCJP also requires adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a related grant agreement with the State of California. Financial/Budget Impact No additional financial or budget impact will result from the adoption of this Council resolution. Revenue and capital improvement project accounts (#20304.406570 and #C20068602.589000, respectively) were established in the amount of $98,119 for these grant funds. Recommendation Staff requests that the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept the CCAP State-of-the-Art Project grant award from the Governor?s Office of Criminal Justice Planning, in the amount of $98,119, and to enter into a related grant agreement with the State of California.
