A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA FINDING THE URGENT NECESSITY FOR
AND APPROVING THE CONTRACT EXECUTED BY THE
CITY MANAGER FOR THE EMERGENCY REPAIRS TO REPLACE THE
COOLING TOWER AT THE CIVIC AUDITORIUM
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has determined that the cooling
tower and supporting structures located on the roof of the Civic
Auditorium have deteriorated to such an extent that they present
a significant threat to the preservation of life, health, or
property; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has determined that an urgent
necessity exists such that repairs to the cooling tower and
supporting structures are needed immediately; and
WHEREAS, public bidding would delay the repairs,
potentially jeopardising life, health, and property,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS8
SECTION 1. In accordance with Santa Monica Charter Section
608, the City Council declares and determines that an urgent
necessity exists for repair of the Civic Auditorium cooling tower
and supporting structures and that such repairs are necessary for
the preservation of life, health, or property.
