AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING CHAPTER 1,
ARTICLE IX, SECTION 9117A OF THE SANTA
MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO PER-
MITTED USES FOR "C4" HIGhl-TAY C01"TIRCIAL
DISTRICT.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWSs
SECTION 1. Section 9117A of the Santa Monica
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 9117A. Uses Permitted. The following
uses are permitted in "C4" Highway Commercial
District. Residential uses are expressly pro-
hibited, except hotels and motels, provided
a motel shall have not more than one dwelling
unit and provided, however, that all permitted
uses shall be conducted within an enclosed
building except those permitted to be conducted
out-of-doors under the provisions of Sections
9115A2 to 6, Inclusive, of this code.

3. Auto sales and service (new or used)

4. Boat, trailer, bicycle, motorycle sales
and service.

5. Drive-in restaurant.
6. Drive-in theatre.
7. Emergency clinic.
8. Equipment rental.
9. Plumbing shop.
10. Print shop, providing the motors used
do not exceed in total 2 horsepower.
11. Restaurants, bars.
12. Skating rink.
13. Ti=c shop (no retreading).
14. Trailer courts and trailer parks,
subject to the issuance of a Use
Permit.

15. Wedding chapel.
16, Feed or fuel store.
17. Film exchange or developing.
18. Automatic ice dispenser, not more
than 5 ton capacity.
19. Sign painting shop.
20. Miniature golf course, pitch -and -
putt.
21. Second-hand store or pawn shop,
excluding building materials and dunk.
22. And such other uses as the Zoning
Administrator may find to be similar
to those listed above and not more
obnoxious to surrounding property."
SECTION 2. The City Council finds and determines
that the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good
zoning practice require that the amendment in Section 1 above be
made.
SECTION 3. The Mayo., shall sign and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk
shall cause the same to be published once in the official news-
paper within fifteen days after its adoption. This ordinance
shall become effective after thirty days from its adoption.
ADOPTED this 1 thday of Earth 1962.
