O439ORDINANCE NO. 439 (CITY COUNCIL SERIES) AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA M014ICA AMENDING SECTIONS 5231, 5233A, B,AND STISANTA TA MUNICIPAL CODEWHICHSAID SECTIONS RELATE USE OF SERVICCITY E CHARGES, INCINERATOR,NICIPAL REFUSE ND BILLING AND CHARGES. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 5231 of the Santa Monica Municipal Code hereby is amended to read as follows: "Section 5231• Use of City Dump and Municipal Incinerator. All non-combustible building rubbish and non-combustible portions of building rubbish and industrial waste originating in Santa Monica but not collected by the City, may be placed in the City Dump, provided, how- ever, that a chargeat therrate fshall$ .00 per ton with a minimum charge of $0.25 per positing such refuse, excepting that the City may accept earth bodieswshalltn tabeeaccepted foreor depositcincthesis r City Dump. All Class 'A' and Class 'B' combustible rubbish, combustible portions of industrial waste and building rubbish excepting roofing material or other materials containing coal tar, asphalt or other hydrocarbons originating within the City of Santa Monica and not col- lected by the City, may be deposited for burning in the Municipal Incinerator. Charges as hereinafter provided shall be paid for depositing such refuse for burning. Such refuse brought to the Incinerator shall comply with the following: (1) Lumber and Class 'B' combustible rubbish ex- cepting wooden furniture, shall not exceed 6 feet in length or 4 inches in least cross-sectional dimension. (2) Class vA' combustible rubbish, wooden furniture and combustible portions of building rubbish and industrial waste, exce ting lumber, shall be broken into pieces not to exceed 2 x 2 x 5'• (3) The combined weight of all metal attached to any item of refuse named under sub -paragraphs (1) or (2) aboveshall not exceed 2 pounds. Mattresses or furniture containing springs will not be permitted. The weight of any one piece of metal attached y shallitem of refuseenamed under sub -paragraphs (1) (2) above pound. The ordinance shall become effective on the thirtieth day after the date of its adoption.
