A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA APPROVING
SANTA MONICA BOULEVARD STREET RESURFACING
PROJECT FOR PROPOSITION 1B FUNDING
WHEREAS, Proposition 1 B-Local Streets and Roads Improvement, Congestion
Relief, and Traffic Safety Account Funds (Prop. 1B)- provided $19.925 billion in bond
funds for a variety of transportation priorities, including $2 billion for cities and counties
to fund the maintenance and improvement of local transportation facilities; and
WHEREAS; the Legislature of the State of California has enacted the 2007
Budget Act and Chapter 181, Statutes of 2007 (SB88), which is intended to provide
$950 million of Prop. 16 funds in 2007-2008. Of this amount, $550 million has been
allocated to cities as determined by the State Controller's Office (SCO). In order to
receive these funds, counties and cities must first submit a proposal to the: State
Department of Finance, and the State Department of Finance in turn notifies the SCO
which counties and cities have met certain reporting requirements; and
WHEREAS, the State. Department of Finance has established the procedures
and criteria for reviewing grant proposals .and is required to submit to the State
Department of Finance a list of recommended projects for Prop. 1 B funding; and

WHEREAS, said procedures and criteria established by the State Department of
Finance require a resolution certifying the approval of use of these funds by the City
before submission of said application to the State Department of Finance; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 1B funds have been allocated to the City of Santa
Monica in the amount of $1,465,667 (fiscal year 2007/08); and
WHEREAS, these funds originated from the Budget Bill (SB 78 and 88), and
include $550 million for cities in FY 2007/08. All Prop 16 funds appropriated in FY
2007/08 must be expended within three years of receipt (June 30, 2011);
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Santa Monica City Council approves the proposed Proposition
1 B Street Project and designates Santa Monica Boulevard Street Resurfacing Project to
utilize. FY 07/08 Proposition 1 B funds.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and efFect.
