JULY 9, 2008
A special meeting of the Santa Monica City Council was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Bloom at
6:57 p.m., on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at City Council Chambers, 1685 Main Street.

Councilmember Kevin McKeown

City Clerk Maria M. Stewart
CONVENE/PLEDGE On order of the Mayor Pro Tem, the City Council convened at 6:57
p.m., with Councilmember McKeown and Mayor Katz absent. Don
Patterson, Assistant to the City Manager, led the assemblage in the
Pledge of Allegiance.
STAFF ITEMS: 8-D: Land Use and Circulation Element (LUCE) Strategy
LAND USE AND Framework and Supplemental Report -recommendation to review
CIRCULATION the LUCE Strategy Framework, and endorse the Framework with
ELEMENT appropriate comments and direct the staff to proceed with economic,
transportation and environmental analysis and evaluation, was
presented.
Members of the public Joel Brand, Ted Winterer, Sherrill Kushner,
Lewis Perkins, Robert Seldon, Catherine Eldridge, Jeanne Laurie,
Ellen Brennan, Mark Keher, Mary Marlow, Ken Kutcher, Jeanne
Dodson, Mike Sullivan, Lou Lazatin, Mark Harding, Kevin Kozal,
Chris Harding, Alan Epstein, and Susan Hartley commented on
various aspects of the presentation and the proposed Strategy
Framework.
Discussion ensued among Councilmembers. Staff provided additional
July 9, 2008
information and answered questions.
On order of the Mayor Pro Tem, the information was received and
filed, and the matter was continued to July 15, 2008.
ADJOURNMENT:
On order of the Mayor Pro Tem, the City Council meeting was
adjourned at 10:29 p.m.
