A special meeting of the Santa Monica City- CoLmcil was called to order by Mayor Katz at 5:57 p.m.,
on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at City Council Chambers, 1685 Main Street.

CONVENEIPLEDGE On order of the Mayor, the City Cocmcil convened at 5:57 p.m. Police
Chief, Tim Jackman led the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance.
STUDY SESSION: The following members of the public spoke in support of funding for
2008 - 2009 BUDGET various projects including addressing shade for playgrounds and support
STUDY SESSION for the Teen Parent Program with Family Services of Santa Monica: Judy
Abdo, Daniel Jansenson, Erin O'Connor, Jerry Rubin, Betsy Hileshew,
Elena Allen, Shuli Lotan and Ana Medrano.
Mark Gold spoke in support of funding for the Pier storm drain
replacement project and additional staff with the expertise to manage the
project, specifically a Senior Storm Water Manager and a Senior Storm
Water Engineer.
Respective department directors presented individual departmental
budgets as follows:

Library
Housing and Economic Development
Big Blue Bus
