of Supervisors requesting them to fund the cost of any parade
through Santa Monica on July 4, that a 12:00 noon June 18 deadline
be met for confirming that police assistance would be furnished
for handling the parade and that the Santa Monica parade permit
would become invalid if any city whose boundary the parade passes
through does not issue a permit as recommended in the staff report. •
The motion was seconded by Mrs, Reed and carried unanimously.
Mr. Cohen moved that the time constraint for making nomi-
nations in Resolution 4739(CCS) be strictly followed without any
exceptions. The motion caas seconded by Mrs. Reed.
;fr. Cohen moved to amend the motion to permit the nomi-
nation of an individual, whether or not his application is on file
in accordance with the published notice inviting applications, pro-
vided such nominee's application is ultimately filed by noon on
the Wednesday preceding the council meeting set for making appoint-
ments by the councilmember making the nomination. The motion was
seconded by Mr, McCloskey and carried with Mrs. Reed voting "NO",
The motion as amended was carried.
Mr. van den Steenhoven moved to adjourn to a personnel
session to discuss the salaries of the City Manager, City Attorney
and City CLerk (all Council appointees).
The meeting reconvened after which Mayor Trives stated
that a discussion was held and that more information was being
requested.
At 4:05 P.M. Mrs. Reed moved to adjourn until 2:00 o'clock P.M.
on June 18 to the Council Chambers in memory of Leonard M. C. Clunes,
resident of the city who passed away recently. •
The motion coas seconded by Mrs. Scaink and carried unanimously.

The Council meeting reconvened at 4:15 P. b1, caith all council
members present except Reverend Judson.
Mayor Trives announced that the City Council was still
deliberating salaries.
At 4:20 o'clock P.hf, P4r. van den Steenhoven moved to adjourn
until 2:00 o'clock P.M, on June 21 to the Council Chamber.

Mr, van den Steenhoven read a letter he had received from
Father Wood in grateful appreciation of the City Council's recog-
nition and his attendance at the ceremony honoring the 25th anni-
versary of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Santa Pionica.
Reverend Judson, in behalf of the City Council, presented
a plaque to Don Drowty for his humanitarianism and brotherly love in
working with the underprivileged people of all races, colors and
creeds.
