A special meeting of the Santa Monica City Council was called to order by Mayor Katz at 5:59 p.m.,
on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at City Council Chambers, 1685 Main Street.

Absent: Mayor Pro Tem Richard Bloom
Councilmember Pam O'Connor
Also Present: City Manager P. Lamont Ewell
City Attorney Mazsha Jones Moutrie
City Clerk Maria M. Stewart
CONVENE On order of the Mayor, the City Council convened to a special meeting
at 5:59 p.m., with Mayor Pro Tem Bloom and Councilmember
O'Connor absent.
The following members of the public spoke in opposition to the
proposed removal of ficus trees: Chris Paine, Jerry Rubin, Freida
Rubin, Paul Sand, Gillian Ware, Cosmo Bua, Bill McCarthy, Jon
Mann, James Quinn, Daniel Jansenson, Susan Hartley, Katy
Dougherty, Michael Lindley, Liz Grenberger, Kathleen Hyden, Scott
Smith, Charles Fredricks, Mazk Gibney, Louise Steiner, and Lisa
Bakewell.
On order of the Mayor, the City Council recessed at 6:34 p.m., to
consider the following closed session:
CLOSED SESSION: 2-A: Conference with Legal Counsel -Existing Litigation:
Treesavers v. City Of Santa Monica, SC Case No. BS 111 346.

On order of the Mayor, the City Council reconvened at 7:42 p.m., with
Mayor Pro Tem Bloom and Councilmember O'Connor absent.
The City Attorney reported that the closed session was discussed and
no reportable action was taken.
ADJOURNMENT: On order of the Mayor, the Special City Council meeting was adjourned
at 7:42 p.m.
