AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ADDING
SECTION 3352 AND SECTION 3352A TO
THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE,
PERTAINING TO SKATEBOARDS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
That Sectlon 3352 is hereby added
to the Santa Monica Municlpal Code and shall read as
follows:
Sectlon 3352. Skateboards. Prohibited
Areas. No person shall operate, ride or propel
himself or herself by means of a skateboard
over or upon any portlon -of that area des-
crlbed in Section 3611 of this Code, commonly
known as the Santa Monlca Pedestrlan Mall,
or in or upon the Palisades Park, a public
par k.
SECTION 2.
Sectlon 3352A is hereby added to
the Santa Municlpal Code and shall read as follows:
Sectlon 3352A. Postlng of Signs. In
those areas where skateboarding is pro-
hibited by Sectlon 3352, slgns shall be
posted in a manner otherwlse required by
law, or approprlate to glve notlce of such
prohibltion.
SECTION 3.
Any provlslon of the Santa Monlca
MunlClpal Code, or appendlces thereto lnconsistent herewith,
to the extent of such inconsistencles and no further, are
hereby repealed or modlfied to that extent necessary to effect
the provisions of thlS ordinance.

SECTION 4.
If any sectlon, sUbsectlon, sentence,
clause or phrase of thlS ord1nance 15 for any reason held to
be 1nval1d or unconst1tut~onal by a decis10n of any court of
competent jurlsdlction, such declsion shall not affect the
valld1ty of the remalning portlons of the ordlnance. The
Clty Councl1 hereby declares that lt would have passed this
ordlnance and each and every section, subsection, sentence,
clause or phrase not declared lnvalid or unconstitutional
without regard to whether any portlon of the ordinance would
be substantlally declared lnvalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 5.
The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ordlnance. The City Clerk
shall cause the same to be publlshed once in the offlclal news-
paper wlthln flfteen (15) days after its adoption. The
ordlnance shall become effectlve after thlrty (30) days from
lts adoptlon.
