A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA CREATING PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONE U
AND AMENDING RESOLUTION 9344 CCS
"PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONES" BY REPLACING EXHIBIT A
WHEREAS, the Planning and Community Development Department has
received petitions requesting the establishment of a preferential parking zone; and
WHEREAS, those petitions to be signed by residents living in two-thirds of the
dwelling units comprising not less than fifty percent (50%) of the developed frontage of
the proposed preferential parking zone have been verified; and
WHEREAS, additional blocks in the vicinity will meet the criteria for establishing
a preferential parking zone once the appropriate number of signatures have been
submitted and verified; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Community Development Department has
undertaken such studies and surveys deemed necessary to determine whether a
preferential parking zone should be designated in the above area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds that the proposed area meets the
designation criteria set forth in Municipal Code Section 3.08.040
NOW THEREFORE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Preferential Parking Zone U is hereby created. The following named and
described streets within the City shall constitute Preferential Parking Zone U:
1. Bay Street between Lincoln Boulevard and 4th Street,
2. 6th Street between Pico and Ocean Park Boulevards,
3. 5th Street between Bay Street and Ocean Park Boulevard,
4. 7th Street between Grant Street and Ocean Park Boulevard,
5. Grant Street between Lincoln Boulevard and 6th Street,
6. Pacific Street between Lincoln Boulevard and 4th Street,
7. Strand Street between 7th and 4th Streets,.
8. Kensington Road between 7th Street and Beverley Avenue,
9. Hollister Avenue between Beverley and 4th Street, and
10. Beverley Avenue between Kensington Road and Ocean Park Boulevard.

(a) No vehicle shall be parked adjacent to any curb for more than two hours in
Preferential Parking Zone U between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on
Monday through Friday, except by permit, with the following exceptions:
• Bay Street between Lincoln Boulevard and 6th Street,
• 6th Street between Pico Boulevard to deadend (eastern portion of 6th).
--No vehicle shall be parked adjacent to any curb on the above named
street segments between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Monday
through Friday, except by permit.
(b) Vehicles displaying residential parking permits shall be exempt from posted
preferential parking regulations.
(c) Preferential parking restrictions shall be posted in each eligible block within the
zone upon receipt and verification of a qualifiying petition representing two-thirds of the
dwelling units and at least 50% of the abutting frontage.
Section 2. Exhibit A to Resolution Number 9344 (CCS) is deleted in its entirety and
replaced by Exhibit A attached to this Resolution.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
