AND RENT CONTROL BOARD
MINUTES
JULY 19, 1990
A special joint meeting of the Santa Monica city Council and Rent
Control Board was called to order by Mayor Zane and Chairperson
Davis at 7:40 P.M., in the Council Chambers, for the purpose of
conducting a study session.

Mayor Zane led the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance to the
Flag of the United States of America.
SS-1: PROPOSED RENT CONTROL CHANGES/NOVEMBER 1990 ELECTION:
Presented was a study session for the purpose of considering
proposed changes to the Rent Control Law for inclusion on
November 6, 1990, Election Ballot. Staff presented a report
regarding recommended changes. City Council and the Rent Control
Board asked questions of staff. Discussion was held.
At 9:22 P.M., the meeting was adjourned for a short recess. At
9:47 P.M., the meeting was reconvened, Councilmember Jennings and
Rent control Boardmembers Bauer and Davis absent. Further
discussion was held. Councilmember Genser moved to extend the
meeting to 12:00 A.M. Second by Mayor Zane. Discussion folowed.
Councilmember Reed moved to extend the meeting to 12: 15 A.M.

Second by Councilmember Abdo. The motion was approved,
Councilmember Genser opposed. No action was taken at this
meeting.
ADJOURNMENT: At 12:03 A.M., the meeting was adjourned in memory
of Forrest South.
