RESOLUTION DETE~~INING THAT A SUBSTANTIAL
NU~ffiER OF LON- A~D MODERATE-IKCO~m F&V;ILIES
ARE NOT TO BE DISPLACED BY THE DO~VNTO\\N RE-
DEVELOPME~T PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the proJect area for the DO\VNTO~~ REDEVELOP~ENT PROJECT
(ProJect) has been selected oy the Plannlng Commlssion as requlred by
law and a preliminary plan for the redevelopment of such project area
has been formulated by sald COnffilssion in cooperatlon wlth the Rede-
velopment Agency of the Clty of Santa Monlca (Agency); and
WHEREAS, it is contemplated that the major reuse of the property in said
proJect area will be used for commerclal purposes and that all of the
residents in said project area will be dlsplaced by said ProJect; and
WHEREAS, the Commun2ty Redevelopment Law provides that the legls-
latlve body of a Clty shall call upon the resldents and eXlsting com-
rnunity organ2zations in a redevelopment project area, In wh2ch a sub-
stantlal number of low- and moderate-lncome famllles are to be dlS-
placed oy a redevelopment project, to form a prOJect area committee
for sald ProJect, and
WHEREAS, four (4) low- and moderate-lDcorne familles and elghteen
(lB) low- and moderate-income lndividuals reside In the Project Area
ano wl11 be dlsplaced by the ProJect; and
WHEREAS, the nurr~er of famllles and indlviduals dlsplaced or to
be d2splaceo by the Ocean Park Redevelopment Project and by redevelop-
ment projects ln other c~ties ~s as follows:
