pledge of allegiance
8-A Interim Ordinance for second dwelling units in the R1 And OP1 Districts -
second reading and adoption of Interim ordinance allowing second dwelling units
In the R1 and OP1 Zoning Dlstncts under specified circumstances clarifYing the
allowance of second units In multi-family residential dlstncts and specifying
standards for second Units, and supplemental report (Introduced May 26, 1998 )
Motion bv Mavor Holbrook. seconded bv Councllmember Ebner. to amend and

re-Introduce and hold first reading of an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ALLOWING SECOND
DWELLING UNITS IN THE R1 AND OP1 ZONING DISTRICTS UNDER
SPECIFIED CIRCUMSTANCES CLARIFVING THE ALLOWANCE OF SECOND
UNITS IN MULTI-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS AND SPECIFYING
STANDARDS FOR SECOND UNITS," reading by title only and waiving further
reading thereof, amended so that the section relating to "hardship" be deleted,
and directing staff to report In SIX months, and penodlcally thereafter, With an
evaluation The motion was approved by the following vote
Ayes Councilmembers Ebner, Greenberg, Genser, Mayor Holbrook
