PARKING AUTHORITY MINUTES
COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA
August 16, 1966 7:35 o.clock p.m.
The Parking Authority of the City of Santa Monica met in
special session at the above named time and place. The pledge
of allegiance was given.
PRESENT: Members: Rex H. Minter, ~''1endell Corey,
James B. Reidy, Jr., Herbert A. Spurgin
ABSENT: Members: C10 Hoover, Royal M. Sorensen,
Kenneth B. Wamsley
ALSO PRESENT: Perry Scott, City Manager
Robert Cockins, City Attorney
William A. Hard, Assistant City Manager
Bartlett L. Kennedy, City Engineer
Joseph D. Nadon, Parking and Traffic Engineer
The date and time of the spec1al meeting of the Parking
Authority was mailed to all members on August 12, 1966, and an
affidavit to that effect is on f11e in the office of the Parking
and Traffic Engineer.
The topic for d1Scuss~on was the purchase of the one-half
lot immediately north of the Arcade Building on the west side of
Fourth Street between Wi1sh1re and Arizona for the sum of
$52,500. (Legal description: northwest 25 feet of Lot F, Block
121, Town of Santa Monica.)
Mr. Reidy moved that decision be held over until August 23
to afford the Authority further time to study the matter. The
mot1on was seconded by Mr. Corey and lost with the follow1ng
roll call vote:
AYES: Members: Corey, Reidy
NOES: Members: Spurgin, Minter
ABSENT: Members: Hoover, Sorensen. Wamsley
Mrs. Hoover and Mr. Wamsley entered the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
Mr. Spurgin moved that the City Manager be authorized to
do all things necessarv to exercise the option and acquire the
property. The motion was seconded by Mr. Minter and lost with
the follow~ng roll call vote:

NOTICE OF 3PECIAL MEETING
OF THE PARKING AUTHORITY
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
Pursuant to the authority vested ~n me as
Chairman of the parking Authority of the c~ty of santa
Manica, a Special Meeting of said Authority is hereby
called for July 26, 1966 at 7:15 P.M. in the Council
Chambers of the c~ty Hall, 1685 Main Street, Santa Monica,
Californ~a.
The following subjects and no others shall be
considered:
1. A Resolut~on authorizing the purchase
of certain propert~es on Fourth street and d1recting the
Executive Secretary to do all th~ngs necessary to accom-
plish the purchase. (A copy of the proposed Resolut~on is
attached hereto.)
2. Chang~ng t~me limits on portions of
Parking Authority Lot Numbe~ 18 on Seventh Street adjacent
to the Ma1n Library.
